| Music video |
[Sep. 28th, 2008|09:20 pm] |
So I had a shot at making a music video. While Den was here, we shot a load of abstract bollocks with his camera. I edited it together today, using a lot of creepy, repetitive looping shots of my cat. And some flashing torches. It's mainly just an excuse to put something on youtube, but here be it if you want to look-see: Get What You Pays For.

| | Hoagy Carmichael - Star Dust | ] | I have noticed that I have very little to say about my own life these days. Therefore, I have started a new blog with a cinematic theme. It's basically to keep tabs on what I watch, what I thought of it and such. I will also be awarding weekly awards on Fridays, so tune in tomorrow to find out who has the Ankles of the Week on:

Does anyone happen to know a good place to get a clock for my bedroom wall? I'm bored with the one I've got at the moment, and I'd like one that I might just be able to use without putting on my glasses in the morning (so a white face with black hands would be ideal). And preferrably one that doesn't tick. |

Ivor Cutler's "Squeeze Bees"
I played with the brightness and contrast, now it looks like film noir or something. Enjoy... |

[Nov. 20th, 2007|10:18 pm] |
There must be something about the end of November. I looked at my LJ posts for November 2006, and apparently back then I'd been re-reading my posts from 2005! Always the same story. Promising myself I'd break old habits and then getting angry at myself when I fail. Complaining about loneliness, the fact that nothing ever happens and all that bullshit. I'm so great.
( I do this questionnaire every bloody year too! ) |

| Soupy Norman. |
[Oct. 9th, 2007|07:48 pm] |
Today I discovered the joys of Soupy Norman. It's a Polish soap opera dubbed by Irish comedians. I watched all eight episodes, each only ten minutes long, and I just about laughed out my insides. There's not much else I can say, except CLICK THE LINKS.
1. Buttevant - in which Esther moves to Dublin. 2. Margarita - in which Susan demonstrates the thing she can do with her eyes. 3. Taxi - in which Soupy Dave fails to sell fish. 4. Doctors - in which Susan tries to change colour. 5. Niteklub - in which The Red Car Bar opens to the public. 6. Omen - in which Susan visits an exorcist. 7. Straz - in which Joan loses a staring competition and plans a drastic revenge. 8. Prodigirl - in which Esther discovers she's a useless bitch.
In other news, tomorrow will be a day to remember. My new computer will arrive, and its first task will be to download the new Radiohead album. |

I apologise to the folks that are loving Puzzle, I know you won't appreciate this review, but at least I am confining it to here instead of ranting on the Biffy board. I am merely intellectualising my gut reactions, my opinions are not purely derived from my dissection of the album. Neither am I fishing for reactions or feedback, either positive or negative. For this reason, I have disabled comments for this entry. I simply need an outlet for my disappointment.

| Questionnaire. |
[Dec. 12th, 2006|12:58 am] |
Name ten bands you love. 1. Cardiacs 2. Ben Folds Five 3. Eels 4. Shellac 5. They Might Be Giants 6. Shudder To Think 7. John Coltrane 8. At the Drive-in 9. Acoustic Ladyland 10. Ivor Cutler
Does that matter at all? No, not really...
Will answering this questionnaire enlighten you in any way? It could broaden my horizons, force me to search my soul and be a catalyst for change in my life.
You're right, not one bit. Hey, you're not listening to me! And that's not a question.
Calm down. It's grammatically incorrect to begin a sentence with a conjunction in any case. I'm sorry, my grammar gets sloppy when I'm angry.
That's ok, I understand. Tell me, how do you feel about your mother? I thought this was just a MySpace questionnaire, ask me what colour my mobile telephone is, or who I last hugged or something.
So, you're seeking attention, is that correct? You feel neglected, and you want to answer any mundane or meaningless question posed to you, just to feel like someone is listening. Is that right? I suppose there is an element of truth in that. I can't help but feel disappointed by these questionnaires, I always start out with the best of intentions, but invariably the questions are mindless and poorly-written, and I find I'm not making any progress in my life by trying to decide whether I prefer Lipton Ice Tea or Nestea when I've never tasted either of them. I wish I could find a more satisfying and meaningful way to spend my time, I keep hoping these surveys will help me solve my problems but I realise now that they actually just distract me from them.
It's a common problem. What do you think your next course of action should be? I'm really not sure. Maybe I should spend some time alone, meditating, really work out how my thoughts and my emotions work. Study philosophies of different cultures, see if anyone has a better idea than I do. Travel, see the world while I still can, not taking anything for granted and then regretting that I didn't take the chance before it was too late. Maybe just spend more time with the people I love, appreciating what they bring to my life, and letting them know that I do love and appreciate them. Hey, thanks for listening, it's been really helpful.
I wasn't listening, I'm just a questionnaire. Oh... Bother. |

I did a little bit of recording today, kind of just to test the mic and check I'd installed everything alright, but also because I've been completely obsessed with playing this song for the past few days.
Ally Craig - Samson (Regina Spektor cover)
Enjoy.
EDIT: I ended up recording three more covers to go with that one. Today has been productive, and it's not even 7pm yet. |
